Rosé, the perfect wine for your Valentine. Growing in popularity rosés range in colour from light to tawny pinks to wines with deeper and richer hues.

Sokol Blosser Rosé of Pinot Noir 2010 – Dundee Hills Oregon US  ♦ ♦ ♦

Described as delicate floral aromas, and hints of strawberries and melon mixed with citrus, I detected fragrant wild flowers with crisp winter melon and tasted strawberry with a hint of sour cranberry. This dry wine pairs well with light pasta, salmon, scallops, and creamy cheese varieties. A good value for the price.

Cantina Santadi Tre Torri 2007 – Santadi Italy ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

I am partial to Italian wines, but as soon as this bottle uncorked I knew it would be delicious. An aroma of musty plum and chocolate presented dark cherry with more chocolate on my palate. Dry and smooth with some tannins, serve Tre Torri with lamb, pork, boar, and poultry or meaty fish.

Peninsula Ridge Estates Winery Cabernet Rosé 2010 – Niagara region ON Canada

At under 15 dollars this wine truly reflected its value. Light aroma with an undertone of red berries and grass similar to Sauvignon Blancs. The bottle states, ” aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry, and cherry”.  Its taste – dry, light, a hint of hibiscus and overall too delicate for my enjoyment. On a hot day an icy bottle of Cabernet Rosé paired with cheese and fruit could refresh the palate.
