Why not make a batch of spiced nuts. I don’t know too many guys who would not appreciate a gift from the heart. Add a pint size beer and you’ve got a present that will make any friend happy.
Take your pick from the following recipes:
Alma’s spiced nuts
- 2 cups mixed salted nuts
- 1 egg white slightly beaten
- Mix together:
- 6 tbsps white sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
Gently mix nuts with egg white until coated. Add mixture of dry ingredients and stir until completely coated.
Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Stir 2 to 3 times.
Remove from oven and add 1 cup of raisins and 1/2 tsp salt

I like my mixed nuts Sweet and Spicy.
I add a big batch of the following ingredients – after-all they are for gifts.
12 cups mixed nuts – peanuts, whole pecans, almonds small and large, cashews, filberts, and Brazil nuts. These can be either salted or unsalted but if you use unsalted you will have to add extra salt at the end. I used half unsalted and salted.
- 4 egg whites
Spice mixture of:
- 4 tbsps of cinnamon
- 1tsp ground cloves
- 1 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp red curry powder
- Mix with 1 cup white sugar.
Stir egg whites gently with nuts until completely coated. Add dry mixture and stir until coated. Bake on large cookie sheet in 2 or 3 batches at 325 degrees for 20 minutes, Stir 2 to 3 times.
Place hot nuts in a pot or bowl and add 1/2 cup white sugar and 2 tsp salt to entire mixture 12 cup mixture. Add 2 cups of original craisins.
