What’s stewing in this dining room – great food, great ambiance, great service!
This lodge is a must visit in the winter. Rent snowshoes or cross-country skis and trail along the golf course fairways or skate on nature’s natural ice rink behind the lodge. Afterwards, head into the dining room or lounge and have a hot bowl of delicious soup. Soups change daily except for the Walleye’s mackerel and scallop chowder and the evening’s Pumpkin puree. You will regret not ordering a bowl. Soups are packed full of flavor and are sure to warm those freezing limbs after a chilly outing.
Location: Fairway #1 beside the lodge.
Of course, after a day full of outdoor excursions we were famished and our dinners fulfilled our appetites beyond expectations. Our first evening we shared the Coquille St Jacques appetizer. With 7 perfectly cooked bay scallops prepared 2 different ways this appetizer thoroughly delighted our palates and stomachs.
For our dinners we ordered Roasted Rack of Lamb and Lobster Butternut Tordelli. The lobster almost melted in my mouth, it was so tender and I loved the butternut pockets of pasta filled with creamy ricotta and herbs.
My husband said his lamb was the “best ever” in a restaurant. Cooked perfectly, at medium rare, you could cut this meat with a fork.
Well we thought we could eat dessert – our eyes growled yes and our stomachs moaned no – but look at this, could you resist?
Tiramisu Cheesecake – a little heavy but scrumptious! And wow – what presentation!
Our next stewing day:
Too much food the night before – our eyes got the better of us so we decided to split our appy and meal. Even then, our proportions were over-the-top.
Our first course was Jumbo Crab Portobella au Gratin, overstuffed with real crab meat – delicious and filling. There’s plenty to share with friends. And those chips – lotus root – forget the potato chip – this lotus root is the new avante guarde. More flavorful and definitely prettier this root has unbeatable taste.
Our main course: Rack of Wild Boar
Well, my husband said he could have eaten 2 racks they were so good. So much for splitting. These are definitely not meant for sharing especially if you are Neanderthal.
We passed on the dessert until next time.
