Another day with the jeep now dubbed ‘green hornet’
First stop: Tortillas Real Maya or Real/Royal Mayan Kitchen
This is real corn tortilla cooked on sight and made in the Mayan tradition, using 100% organic fresh ground corn (masa) and a little salt for seasoning. Filled with chicken and topped with pickled red onion – so tasty and there are more than 12 variations.
Stewing tip: Bring lots of amigos and have a fiesta.
Location: 122 Rueda Medina Ave, across the street from the passenger ferry terminal
Second stop: Back to Oscar’s
One of the best on the island and a meal on its own. This guacamole has chunks of avocado and all the other good ingredients that pack it with flavor.
Stewing tip: Sit at the back of the restaurant by the boats. You won’t hear the traffic and you’ll love the nautical atmosphere.
Third stop: Villa La Bella
We were thirsty!! On the windy Isla side, this is a great little bar that serves drinks in fun and authentic glasses including coconut shells. Be sure to park your cart for an icy drink.
Location: Carretera Perimetral Al Garrafon – if you loop around the island this icy ocean-front bar will be on your cart path.
Fourth stop: Sunset Grill
My new favorite – Tikin xic (grilled fish). Today it was snapper and always fresh. Every ounce including the eyes were devoured – I was a shark in disguise.
Location: At Nautibeach Condos on playa norte
